The academic team from Warwick Valley High School will face the team from Rye Neck High School in the first-round competition of Cablevision’s “The Challenge,” airing this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16 and 17, at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. on News 12 and available on demand on Cablevision channel 612 through News 12 Interactive. This is the first time in its 11-year history that ‘The Challenge” includes schools and students from the Hudson Valley, the Bronx and Brooklyn in addition to Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. More than 735 students representing 147 tri-state area high schools are participating this season. Teams are typically made up of students who are at the top of their class — academic all-stars who compete based on their knowledge of history, arts and literature, math and science.
