Project Compassion: Hurricane Katrina relief aid through Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

    Warwick - Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will be a drop-off site for the collection of the following goods to aid hurricane victims: • Underwear and socks (any size, adult or child), tee shirts (any size), diapers. • Deodorant, mouthwash (small, plastic bottles), toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs and brushes. • Lotion (baby and/or moisturizers), feminine hygiene items, disposable razors and shaving cream. • Healthy snack items (single-serving size), bottled water (small plastic bottles). • First aid kits and duffle bags. • Pillow cases and sheets, cloth towels. • Batteries (D, C, AA, AAA), flash lights and hand-held games. • Paper towels, tissues, soap and cleaning supplies. Distribution will be through Trinity Lutheran Church of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which is located about 80 miles from New Orleans and which has become a major place of refuge for displaced thousands. The goods, which must be new, not used, can be dropped off at the church, located at 95 Kings Highway in Warwick until Friday, Sept. 23. They will be trucked to Louisiana for distribution "to those in need of all faiths, will out regard to background," according to a press release from the church.
