Presidential campaign donations

The following is a list of campaign contributions made by area residents in 2007 to presidential candidates. The public information comes from the Center for Responsive Politics (www.opensecrets.org). The center is a non-partisan, non-profit research group based in Washington, D.C., that tracks money in politics and its effects on elections and public policy. The group also conducts computer-based research on campaign finance issues for the media, academics, activists and the public at large. Its aim is to create a more educated voters and a more responsive government. The database includes Federal Election Commission records of receipts from all individuals who contributed more than $200 through late last year (smaller contributions are typically not part of the public record). The next FEC filing deadline is Jan. 31. The search is done for all candidates by zip code.
