Port of Call to remain open until end of April

Warwick — It may have been the same weekend but the report that Port of Call Home Furnishings at 40 Main St. was closing March 31 was a mistake and not an April Fools’ Day joke. After six years, owners Anthony and Deborah Blomfield are closing their store but they hope to keep the doors open until the end of April. “The misprint,” said Deborah Blomfield, “confirmed the fact that any publicity is good publicity.” As people rushed to take advantage of the closing sale, Anthony and Deborah Blomfield reported that their store was packed on March 31, and that the phone, in their words, was ringing off the hook. “While the store has been reduced to half the size of what it once was,” said Blomfield, “it is still a great time to visit Port of Call and get a wonderful bargain.” Furniture has been reduced from 30 to 60 per cent and accessories and gifts are also being reduced by 30 per cent. The last art show in the Gallery at Port of Call, however, will come down this week. The artists’ works will then be replaced with a selection of picture frames. “The frames will be available for a fraction of their cost,” said Tony Blomfield. “This is rare opportunity for artists to get a great deal on the always needed picture frame.” Artists will be able to collect their works of art over the next few weeks.
