Police investigating musician's death

    Chester — The Town of Chester Police are investigating the death of William Perry, 49, of Sugar Loaf resident. According to police reports, Perry was swimming in a pool at a residence on Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf. The pool owner saw Perry swimming in the pool and, a short time later, saw him lying motionless in the pool. The Town of Chester Police and the Chester Volunteer Ambulance were summoned and attempted to revive Perry. He was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Perry was a blues guitarist, songwriter and singer. He was the main guitarist for folk-rock singer Richie Havens throughout the 1980s. He was born and raised in Chester.
