Warwick — Garden enthusiasts and book lovers, the Friends of the Albert Wisner Public Library will hold its Spring Plant and Used Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, in Lewis Park, rain or shine. The Friends will be selling hardy perennials, colorful annuals, container plants, hanging plants, shrubs, flats, and more. Many of the plants are donated from existing Warwick gardens, as this is the time of the year when gardeners divide their larger plants in preparation for the growing season. The gardeners pot these divided plants, and donate them to the Friends to sell. The donations make for a wide variety of hardy plants not always available at local nurseries. In addition to a wide assortment of plants for the garden, there will be many books, tasty baked goods and a raffle. Visitors can purchase new plants for the summer garden, find books to read, bring home a treat for dessert, and support the library as well. Donations are needed Donations of perennial plants from one’s garden are welcome. For those who do not have a garden but would like to participate, purchased plants will also be accepted. Plants may be dropped off ahead of time by calling Amy Gallagher at 986-5057, or at the library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 19, or in Lewis Park from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. Donations of gently used books will be accepted at the library from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 19, as well as at Lewis Park from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. Baked goods will be accepted at Lewis Park from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. The library is located at 2 Colonial Ave. in Warwick. For any questions or to volunteer for a few hours at the sale, call Amy Gallagher at 986-5057 or the library at 986-1047.
