The boards are all set up, the liner down and the water poured. Now, with the help of Mother Nature, ice skating should be happening soon in Pine Island Park. On Wednesday, Bill Walsh and his two sons, Devin Lee and Willie J, were checking out the rink, even though they have one just a bit smaller at their house. “It’s not quite ready yet,” said Walsh, referring to both his rink and the larger one at the park, who brought his sons in the hopes of getting some hockey time. “We need a few days in the 20s and we’ll be skating again,” he said. The ice in Pine Island was a bit thin in spots, not ready for the Walsh boys’ blades and hockey sticks. (Photo by Linda Smith Hancharick)
