Pine Island PTA honors DiPalmer and Introini

Pine Island - The Pine Island Parent Teacher Association recently celebrated Founder’s Day by honoring two of its most valued members. Liz DiPalmer and Laura Introini were this year’s honorees. Introini is the secretary at Pine Island Elementary School and a big part of everything that is done at Pine Island. DiPalmer is a long-time PTA member and volunteer extraordinaire. The Founder’s Day tradition in Pine Island goes back more than 25 years, according to PTA President Nancy Scheinert. Blank ballots are sent home with students asking parents to suggest anyone associated with the school either support staff, administration, parent or resident who has given their time and energy to make the children’s educational experiences better. This year, Scheinert said, it was a tie. Both DiPalmer and Introini, who did not know they had been selected until the presentations were made, have become lifetime members of the PTA. All previous recipients of the Founder’s Day award are invited back each February for the presentation. Some of them include Marsha and Jonathan Talbot, Pine Island Principal Jane Hamburger and Pine Island historian Francis Sodrick.
