Pine island firefighters take five

first-place trophies in Port Jervis parade Port Jervis - The Pine Island Fire Department brought home five first-place trophies from the annual Port Jervis Firemen’s parade on July 14. The department, led by Chief Rich Koziola, won the following categories: • Most firelighters in the line of march. • Best appearing fire department in non-regulation uniform. • Best appearing apparatus over 10 years old. • Best apparatus in the entire parade. • Best appearing color guard. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office provided the Color Guard for the Fire Department and was led by Sheriff Carl DuBois. The Maybrook Boy Scouts Marching Band provided excellent music to march to. Close to 40 fighters from Pine Island participated in the parade. The department’s KME International Pumper - 1996 - #627 was the winning apparatus. The trophies are on display in Station #1; the color guard trophy is on display in the County Sheriff’s office.
