Pine Island - In preparation for Earth Day activities in Pine Island on Saturday, April 21, the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce organized a street cleanup in the hamlet over Easter weekend. Hundreds of visitors are expected to visit the hamlet for Earth Day festivities taking place at Rogowski Farms on Glenwood Road in Pine Island as well as at the Warwick Middle School. As part of the spruce-up, several chamber directors joined a team of workers from DeBuck Sod Farms, wielding shovels and brooms at the Pine Island crossroads. Later the debris was removed by an Orange County Department of Public Works street sweeper. On Earth Day, Pine Island will unveil a new “Welcome To Pine Island” sign that will greet traffic from Warwick on County Route 1 at Little Brooklyn Road. The welcome signs at five other entrances also will be cleaned to greet visitors. The Chamber will have a table at Rogowski Farms, where it will unveil a major plan to beautify the hamlet.
