Greenwood Lake - Philip Andre Dreyhaupt, a member of Boy Scout Troop 121 in Greenwood Lake since 1999, was honored as an Eagle Scout in ceremonies at the Greenwood Lake Elks Lodge on April 2. During his Eagle project, Dreyhaupt managed the beautification of the fence around the Greenwood Lake Ambulance Corps building on Windermere Avenue as well as refinishing the building’s three-bay floors - without interrupting EMS service. Dreyhaupt, a senior at George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo, also is a member of the ambulance corps. He also worked as a water front advisor in the Ten Mile River Boy Scout Camp the last four summers, with BSA lifeguard qualifications since July 2003. He also was one of the founding members and president of Venture Crew 5121 of Greenwood Lake, attended several of the annual 50-mile treks and earned the Bronze Outdoor Award. In his quest for the Eagle designation, he was assisted by Scout Master Walter Andrews and Charter Representative Harold Hartman. The award is a performance-based achievement; only about 4 percent of all Boy Scouts make it. This represents more than 1 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1911. The list of Eagle Scouts includes former U.S. Senator from New Jersey and New York Knick Bill Bradley; former President Gerald R. Ford; former Apollo astronaut James A. Lovell Jr.; and current Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld.
