Philip A. Patterson appointed CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System

He will oversee St. Anthony Community, Good Samaritan and Bon Secours Community hospitals SUFFERN - Richard J. Statuto, president and chief executive officer of Bon Secours Health System Inc., announced this week the appointment of Philip A. Patterson as chief executive officer of Bon Secours Charity Health System. Patterson, 41, is one of the nation’s youngest CEOs of a regional health system. Patterson will lead the strategy, operations and performance of the health system, which includes accountability for three acute care hospitals - St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis - and a regional home health care agency, two long-term care facilities, and an assisted living and adult home facility. For the past five months, Patterson has served as interim CEO, where he led a reorganization to “align talent and resources around the system’s mission and strategic plan,” said Statuto. Previously, Patterson was executive vice president of Good Samaritan Hospital. He will report to Statuto. Patterson came to BSCHS from Allina Hospitals and Clinics (Allina) in Minneapolis, where he served for six years, including holding the role of vice president of operations for Mercy Hospital in Minneapolis. Prior to Allina, Patterson was with HealthSouth Hospital Corp. in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, where he had responsibilities for acute rehabilitation hospitals, clinics, physician practices, mergers and joint ventures. He holds offices in several national organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a member of Rotary International, among other organizations. Since joining the Bon Secours System, Patterson has become chairman for the 2010 Heart Walk for the Orange-Rockland-Sullivan Division of the American Heart Association.
