Pharmacy launches speaker series for doctors

    Monroe — Blooming Grove Pharmacy has introduced a new program for physicians and their staff members about the benefits of pharmaceutical compounding. The pharmacists bring samples of compounded medicines, and address doctors and office staff in their medical offices about numerous compounding benefits, including: •changing medicine dosages and strengths •eliminating preservatives, gluten, dyes and fillers from standard and specialty medication •making sugar-free preparations for diabetics •compounding combination drugs •compounding chewable medicines •changing flavors through Flavor Rx - patients or their children can choose from 27 flavors that can be added to a prescription or over-the-counter medication. •converting medication to suspension or solution for administration through a feeding tube Blooming Grove Pharmacy was established in 1990 by John Pietsch and Martin Teich, who have been licensed pharmacists since 1979. BThe pharmacy also provides compounded medicines for pets, so veterinarians and their staff members can participate as well. “As a compounding pharmacy, Blooming Grove Pharmacy solves problems related to medicines that have unpleasant taste, strengths that are not commercially available, or for greater ease to administer to the patient,” stated Teich. “Compounding is a process using modern and innovative technologies to produce medications that are not commercially available,” explained John Pietsch. “These products are custom made for patients’ special needs, as determined by their physician.”
