Warwick - On July 29, Town of Warwick Deputy Supervisor James Gerstner, Mayor Michael Newhard, Garrett Durland, president of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Executive Director Michael Johndrow joined Steve and Jill Pennings to celebrate the opening of their new outdoor beer garden. Surrounded by edible as well as colorful flower gardens, and a 12-foot high trellis wall of hops, the outdoor beer garden offers a bar, casual picnic table seating and a stage for live music and entertainment. The setting is adjacent to Pennings Farm Market, 161 South Route 94. As with Pennings Indoor “Apple Grader” Brew Pub and Café, the new beer garden will feature local craft beer and local wine, as well as fresh field to table fare. The Pennings Family, which has been farming the u-pick Apple Orchard for more than 25 years as well as running a Farm Market, Garden Center and Ice Cream Stand, invites the community to stop by and enjoy a cold beer, a glass of wine or a soft drink and have a light bite. “Most importantly,” said Jill Pennings, “take in a warm summer night with a cool breeze and a spectacular view of the sun setting in the orchard.” The new beer garden is open Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday night also serves as open Corn-Hole Tournament night. Corn-hole is a traditional country game where players take turns throwing sacks filled with feed corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. And on Friday night and Sunday afternoon there is live musical entertainment. The beer garden is also available for private parties and functions custom catered by Pennings.
