FLORIDA - Jim Pawliczek’s election to his fourth term as mayor of the Village of Florida this week was a far cry from his first race when he narrowly won by three votes. Pawliczek, running as the People’s Party, was unopposed this time around, as were Trustees Thomas Fuller Sr. (People’s Party) and Thomas Chevrier (Village Party). “I just campaigned every day,” Pawliczek said, discussing his campaign strategy while running unopposed. “I am pleased and proud to be mayor. I look forward to the years ahead.” Out of the 1,722 eligible voters within Florida, only 73 ballots were cast in Tuesday’s village elections, or about 4.2 percent. “It’s healthier for the community if you run against someone,” Fuller noted. “You get more votes with competition.” Trustees Frank Pierce and Frank Jarocki will face reelection bids in 2009.
