WARWICK — Schervier Pavilion residents and staff who call themselves Irish or were just Irish for the day, assembled in the dining room of the facility to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with music, song and refreshments. Local entertainer Billy Killoran was on hand to not only play and sing Irish songs such as, “Danny Boy,” and, “The Unicorn,” but to also head down memory lane with many old-time American favorites like, “East Side, West Side,” and, “Daisy.” Celebrating annual and ethnic events are important at Schervier Pavilion. They offer an opportunity for residents to get together, recall their own roots, enjoy the festive occasion and talk about it later while looking forward to the next celebration. “We publish a calendar every month that’s filled with interesting and entertaining things to do throughout the day, as well as some evenings,” said Recreation Director Kari Call, who is a certified therapy recreation specialist. “Therapeutic recreation is essential to the quality of life and the quality of care of individuals receiving health and human services at our facility.”
