Pattern for Progress hosts Housing the Hudson Valley' conference on June 12
NEWBURGH Pattern for Progress will host “Housing the Hudson Valley,” a conference June 12 designed to help Hudson Valley decision-makers understand the housing challenging the region and how best to address it. “We are bringing together many of the brightest and most experienced housing minds in the Hudson Valley to help shed light upon this vexing issue,” said Pattern for Progress President Jonathan Drapkin. “Whether you call it affordable housing or workforce housing or something else, many leaders peg this issue as the one that most limits our region’s potential for growth, stretching family budgets to the breaking point and driving our elderly and grown children away from the Valley.” The day-long conference, which will be held at Ulster Community College’s Stone Ridge Campus, will feature Federal Home Loan Bank of New York President Al Dellibovi as keynote speaker. Previously, Mr. he served as the deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1989 until 1992. Additional participants will include area representatives from the many groups currently addressing the issue such as government, banking, housing development, business and not-for-profit sectors. Pattern for Progress is a regional research, policy, planning and advocacy organization in the Hudson River Valley.
