Warwick - Harry Potter has been a name heard around the world in a series of books cherished by readers of all ages everywhere. The growing national sensation has been composed by author J.K Rowling and is made up of six books. The seventh and supposedly last book of the series will be coming out on July 21. The series is about a boy named Harry whose parents tragically die when he is very young. Harry grows up living with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley. At age eleven, Harry learns that his parents are magical people and that he is, in fact, a wizard. Harry is then introduced into the magical world of wizards, witches and other worldly beings. So why is the series so popular? I asked two classmates who have read the series for their opinion. “I like to read the series because it has a lot of adventure along with mystery,” Daniel K., age 11, told me. “The stories keep me on edge so I’m unable to put the book down and stop reading no matter how tired I am.” Kate K, age 11, had a similar response: ”I like to read the series because it keeps me up all night reading. I loose myself while I read it and feel like I’m in the middle of the story. “I like the way every detail in the story is important to the outcome of the series,” Kate added. “The stories also keep up with Harry’s social life as well as the adventures that give you nightmares.” When I asked why they thought other people liked the Harry Potter series, Dan replied: ”I think the series is so popular because, like it does to me, it keeps people on edge. There is a lot of tension in the stories. “The adventures increase in danger and terror as the stories progress,” Dan added. Kate’s reply was: ”I think the series became more and more popular as it went on to develop a more mature Harry to meet people’s needs for a good story. ”The books contain almost every type of genre from suspense to comedy,” she added.” In the first book, there’s not much of a real danger, but as the story grows, Harry faces more obstacles, each more challenging than the last.” So there you have it.
