Park Avenue Elementary cub reporter news:Eating healthy can be a rockin' good time

Warwick - Park Ave is the place to be! In the past weeks, both our Wellness Fair and Kinderfestival occurred. Our Wellness fair taught us all about keeping ourselves healthy, bicycle safety, avoiding drugs, protecting our ears, standing up to bullies, brushing our teeth, tick protection, taking care of our bones, watching the fat and sugars in food, relaxing and - not to mention - eating healthy. And eating healthy is something that the students in the fifth-grade classes of Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Jacobsen and Mrs. Gerbino know a lot about. On the day of the fair, Alexa B., Taylor B., Amanda B., Kayla C., Cassidy C., Katie F., Katelyn G., Alan H., Justin L., Kaelan L., Blair OB., Brendan R., Sam R., Tommy S., Joe V. and Lauren W. made an awesome and healthy lunch for us. Their research report for class was on healthy lifestyles, so they asked if they could make a healthy lunch for the school for one day. They made rockin’ wraps, Thompson’s toss salad, cheesy garlic bread and many other fun, spunky names for items on their menu. “Exercise a lot and eat healthy foods,” Lauren W. said. “Have fun eating healthy,” Amanda B added. In other Park Avenue Elementary news, the Kinderfest was quite an event. I don’t know how they do it, but the kindergartners make dancing, singing and marching look easy. The kindergartners charmed and delighted proud friends and family members with the support, guidance and team effort of Ms. Phillips, Ms. Melenbacher, Mrs. Heller, Mrs. Vanderkruik and Mr. Vero and the kindergarten teachers. Mr. Pellegrino played guitar to most of the songs in their performance of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” This was a fun event to watch and looked like a whole lot of fun to perform. “I want to do it again next year,” said kindergartner Micah S.
