Orange County Land Trust's annual benefit raises more than $60,000 for local farms

Middletown — More than 230 people attended the Orange County Land Trust’s 2011 Annual Benefit Reception held recently at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley, raising over $60,000 for land preservation and farmland protection. Honored for their entrepreneurial spirit, use of new and sustainable technologies and contribution to Orange County’s health and economy were Crist Brothers Orchards of Walden, Dean Ford & Sons Dairy Farm and Brian Ford Family of Westtown, Fort Hill Farm Service of Goshen, Hoeffner Farms of Montgomery, K&M Packing of New Hampton and Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery of Warwick. The Orange County Land Trust has protected nearly 4,000 acres of important working and natural lands in communities throughout Orange County since its formation in 1992. The Trust owns and manages nine nature preserves, with seven open to the public for hiking, birding and nature study.
