Open letter to skate park users
Village looking for help in reducing vandalism and in repainting ramps Dear skateboarders, bikers and skaters: Most of you are probably aware that it has been one year since the Village Board voted to keep the skate park open and unsupervised. We are sure this decision has improved your ability to use the park and to improve your sport. The skate park is important. As a Village we are proud to be one of the few communities in New York State to offer such a park. The use of the park has increased tremendously but unfortunately, so has the amount of graffiti, theft and vandalism. The Village Board is in the process of researching the cost of new skatelite surfacing for all of the ramps. This will be costly but we feel it is necessary to keep the skate park in shape for you and future boarders. The new surfacing is first on a list of other improvements that can happen at the park. Sadly, another large expense will go to repair damage to the fence. For each incidence of damage there is a cost which leaves less money to buy more stunts and other improvements. We need your help. This is your park and it is up to you to encourage fellow boarders and bikers to help us maintain it. We want your input and we need your help. Before the new surfacing can be installed, we need to repaint the ramps. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the painting, please call Trustee Eileen Patterson at 986-2031. Let’s all work to make this a great skate park. Thank you. Mayor Michael J. Newhard Trustee Eileen Patterson
