ALBANY — After another fatal crash involving a driver traveling the wrong way on a New York highway, a state legislator from Long Island is pushing a bill that would make wrong-way travel a felony. Sen. Charles Fuschillo's urging of the state Assembly to pass his bill comes just days after a fatal wrong-way crash in New Rochelle in Westchester County. Authorities say a 26-year-old Queens woman was drunk when she drove six miles the wrong way on Interstate 95 before slamming into another car, killing a New Jersey man. Two years earlier, a fatal crash also blamed on wrong-way driving killed eight people on the Taconic Parkway, about 12 miles from Sunday's early morning crash. Fuschillo's bill would make a felony of wrong-way driving either knowingly or because of intoxication.
