Not your everyday deer

Ed Gyuro of Warwick sent in this photo last week of what appears to be a partial albino deer. As Gyuro tells it: “I live in Warwick and spotted this deer in my backyard yesterday. He hung out for about two hours before moving on. At first I thought it was a cow from its markings and then thought it may have been one of my neighbor’s Alpacas that may have gotten loose. From the pictures you can see that it is a very unusual-looking deer.” Pure albino deer are very rare, about one in every 100,000 is born that way. According to one wildlife biology Web site: “Chances of seeing one in the wild are very low. It might be easier finding a rare coin or a gold nugget in a stream. So rare are albino deer that generations of American Indians thought them to be magical.” (Photo by Ed Gyuro)
