Greenwood Lake Police Officer Al Nicholas checks out a car in Greenwood Lake on Saturday, Oct. 28. According to police, a Honda Civic driven by Scott Garder of Bloomfield, N.J., hopped the curb on Lake Shore Drive and plummeted about 50 feet down the embankment into the lake. Police said the driver did not call the accident into the police until the afternoon after he hitch a ride back to his home in New Jersey.
