Newburgh waterfront project developers track progress on Web
Newburgh LeylandAlliance LLC, the Tuxedo-based real estate company selected by the City of Newburgh to develop the mixed-use Newburgh Waterfront project, has launched a website (www.newburghwaterfront.com) to familiarize the public with the development and provide regular news updates on its progress. The site’s content will initially focus on the architectural charrette, to be held beginning Jan. 29, which will establish the planning and design parameters for the development. A charrette is an intense, high-energy series of planning sessions during which the Master Plan team of architects, engineers, environmentalists and other consultants engage city officials and the citizens in a discussion regarding the best use of the land; whether for housing, retail space, office use or a mixed-use development, incorporating all of these. Prominent public spaces will be incorporated into the plan, as well. LeylandAlliance was selected by the city of Newburgh from a field of 19 developers after months of a rigorous review, including site visits to communities developed by the candidates and an analysis of their financial and management qualifications. Weighing in on the selection was a committee comprised of members of the City Council, the Waterfront Advisory Committee and City of Newburgh officials.
