Monroe - Drs. Jesse Blattstein and Seth Schulman announce the availability of the Gentle Vision Shaping System and the Myopia Stabilization System in the lower Orange County area. The Gentle Vision Shaping System allows the Mid-Hudson practitioners to reduce a patient’s dependency on eyeglasses or contact lenses completely or partially. The Myopia Stabilization System may halt the progression of nearsightedness. Both systems utilize a special type of contact lens to reshape a patient’s corneas, according to a press release issued by the doctors. “Not everyone wants risky laser surgery and not everyone is a good candidate for it,” Blattstein said. “This new method allows us to present a non-surgical, safe, healthy alternative that does not involve surgery.” “One of my most recent success stories is a young teenager who lives in Highland Mills and was studying to be a lifeguard this past summer,” Blattstein continued in his press release. “He could not wear contact lenses in the water and glasses were out of the question. The young man and his mother had decided against LASIK because he was too young. We performed GVSS on the teen whose vision was such that he couldn’t function without any correction and had been worsening every year. After a couple of days, he was able to read the 20/20 line without his glasses or contact lenses.” The office of Mid-Hudson Optometric Associates is located at 371 Route 17M and is open six days a week. Appointments can be made by calling 845-782-EYES.
