Neighbors honor Lt. Lou Allen

The residents of the Gold Key Lake in Dingman, Pa., honored 1st Lt. Louis Allen, a former Gold Key resident, on the first Memorial Day after his death. Allen was killed in Iraq one year ago yesterday: June 8, 2005. About 40 people attended the ceremony, including about 15 uniformed veterans. Father Paul Mullen of St. Vincent’s Church of Milford, Pa., led the group in prayer and song at a special monument dedicated in his honor. Allen was a native of Chester and a teacher at George Baker High School in Tuxedo. He left behind a wife, Barbara Allen, and four young sons. He was 34 years old at the time of his death.
