Mount Peter in the movies

WARWICK - Mount Peter Ski Area in Warwick was a beehive of activity on Wednesday, Feb. 16. That’s not unusual for this winter, especially with Mother Nature and snow blowers providing a 24- to 60-inch base and all trails open. But all this activity began at 4 a.m. when a movie crew arrived with trailers, lights, cameras and caterers. Two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Megan Fox and Jon Hamm, were about to arrive to film a scene for their new movie, a comedy titled “Friends With Kids,” on the snow covered slopes. During filming, the scene portrays Fox and Hamm having a snowball fight. The 24-year-old actress is a snow boarder. Hamm, however, preferred playing his role on traditional skis. An advance scout for the Production Company selected Mt. Peter for a location since it not only had plenty of snow but also was close to New York City where other scenes were shot. Filming for “Friends with Kids,” due to be released early next year, began in the Bronx. Enjoying near perfect weather with bright sun and clear blue skies, Fox and Hamm, rode up to the top of Mt. Peter Ski Area and filmed until 3 p.m. According to the crew, everything went off without a hitch. Five Mt. Peter employees were also enlisted as movie extras. According to Production Company press releases the comedy is about pair of thirty-something best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then dating other people.
