WARWICK — The resident bake sale, organized by volunteers on the staff of Mount Alverno Center, was a sell-out on Friday, June 2. Anyone who arrived at 20 Grand Ave. in Warwick after mid-morning was lucky to find cookie crumbs. “We are grateful to our dedicated staff, who not only did all the baking, but also advertised and promoted this sale with their own fliers, posters, calls and emails,” said Mount Alverno’s administrator, Lisa Fedorka. “I’m very proud of them, and the dedication and initiative they’ve shown with this successful bake sale. The attitude of our staff plays no small part in making sure that our residents are comfortable and at home.” The proceeds of the bake sale will be used for an ongoing project to upgrade the facility’s flower gardens for the enjoyment of the residents. The sale was the first in a series of June Lobby Sales for the Warwick Campus of Bon Secours Charity Health System, which includes Mount Alverno, Schervier Pavilion, and St. Anthony Community Hospital. The center is a member of the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, and its Assisted Living Program, the only licensed one in Orange County, was one of the first to be licensed by New York State’s Department of Health.
