Monroe driver charged with DWI, gun possession
Goshen Police patrols responding to a call of a possible intoxicated driver at 2:54 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, found a 2003 Gray Cadillac Suburban stopped in the northbound lane of Route 17M, in the area of exit 125 off Route 17. The vehicle was running, and the driver was asleep behind the wheel, according to the Village of Goshen Police. The driver, William A. Jamieson. 57, of 303 Heritage Lane in Monroe, failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. During a search of the vehicle, arresting officers Michael Gregorio and Jason Andino found an unlicensed and loaded .25 caliber handgun in a bag on the front passenger’s seat floor. Jamieson was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony; driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor; and a parking violation. Jamieson was arraigned in front of Village of Goshen Justice Thomas Cione and committed to the Orange County Jail In Iieu of $3,500 bail, pending a court appearance in Village of Goshen Justice Court on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
