WARWICK — Moms and babies looking for fitness will be able to do more than just take a stroll in Stanley Deming Park. They’ll be able to get a real workout. FIT Beginnings, LLC has been granted permission by the board of trustees of the Village of Warwick to hold mother and baby fitness classes in the park. FIT Beginnings offers interactive exercise and play classes for moms and babies. The classes are intended to foster positive interactions between mother and child while instilling the value of a fit and healthy lifestyle right from the start. Two classes will be offered at Stanley Deming Park on Wednesdays beginning Aug. 23: FIT Mommy and Baby (for babies 3 months to crawling) and FIT Mommy and Mover (for mobile babies). Both classes include age-appropriate activities for baby including songs, rhymes, fingerplays, kneebouncers, bubbles, parachute games and more. All of the exercises in the FIT Mommy classes are designed to safely include the baby while giving mom a maximum workout that can be modified for all fitness levels. The classes also provide mothers with a support network. Discussion forums are included in all classes to provide advice, tips, and the opportunity to form friendships with other moms from the area. The classes will be led by Debra Redding, owner/instructor of FIT Beginnings, LLC. “I am really excited about holding classes in the park. The classes are a lot of fun, indoor or out, but to be able to do them outside in the fresh air in a beautiful park such as Stanley Deming will be a real treat for the moms and babies,” said Redding. Stephanie Kobetitsch takes the classes with her daughter Jessica, “The classes offered by FIT Beginnings provide moms with an excellent way to meet new moms, bond with their child, and get in shape,” Kobetisch said.
