Warwick — The State of New York will begin mailing homeowners, in the Warwick School District and all of Orange County, application forms for the Middle Class STAR Rebate program. The mailing is expected to begin Sept. 17. To receive a STAR rebate this year, property owners with a basic STAR exemption on their 2008 school tax bills, must complete and submit the application by Nov. 30 to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. These applications can be either filled out and mailed or completed online. Mailed applications will result in a tax rebate being returned in approximately five weeks, while online applications will see refunds in approximately three weeks. Depending on a family’s income, the rebate will range from $220.93 ($175,000n$250,000 income) to $441.85 (up to $120,000) for residents of Warwick. These rebates to homeowners in the Warwick school district are in addition to the reductions already seen in homeowners’ bills for school taxes this year. Senior citizens who are property owners and receive an enhanced STAR exemption on their 2008 tax bill will receive a rebate check automatically. No application is required.
