Mid-term election has people buzzing
Warwick Community Preservation will not be the only issue on people’s minds during this campaign season that ends Tuesday at the polls. There are races, some hotly contested, for the United States congress and senate, the state Senate and assembly, governor, attorney general and state comptroller. Current Attorney General, Democrat Eliot Spitzer, and John Fasso, a Republican who was the former Assembly minority leader in Albany, are facing off for the governor’s mansion. Democrat Andrew Cuomo and Republican Jeanine Pirro are facing off for attorney general. Incumbent state comptroller Democrat Alan Hevesi is being challenged by Republican J. Christopher Callahan. U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is facing former Yonkers mayor, Republican John Spencer, for the Democrat’s seat in Washington. In District 19, which encompasses most of Warwick, incumbent Republican Sue Kelly is being challenged by Democrat John Hall, a former Ulster County Legislator and musician. State Sen. Thomas Morahan is facing a challenge from Democrat Nancy Low-Hogan. Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt, a veteran of the Warwick Town Board and the Greenwood Lake Village Board, is running to maintain her seat in the statehouse against Michael Paduch, a Democrat and member of the Orange County Legislature. Polls are open throughout the town Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. For questions regarding your polling place, call the Town Hall at 986-1120 or check the town’s Web site, www.townofwarwick.org for a map of districts within the town and a list of polling places.
