Warwick — A new 4-H club is forming for young people between the ages of 9 and 14 in Orange Count. The 4-H Rocket Adventure Club will focus on building and launching model rockets and will meet the first and third Tuesday of every month,at the Park Avenue Elementary School in Warwick. “Our Rocket Adventure Club gives kids a chance to focus on developing their rocketry skills over the entire season,” said 4-H Educator Tom Davis. “Each project will be a bit more challenging - and we’ll follow each completed build with a club launch - it should be pretty spectacular,” Davis said. “Another special aspect of this Adventure Club is that the meetings and field trips will be lead by a knowledgeable volunteer managed by the 4-H Office. Parents will be free to enjoy helping their kids with the projects.” Projects on the schedule for this spring session are building and launching at least three different rockets. The value of 4-H Club work goes beyond working on projects. Youth learn skills and develop assets that can help them make a successful transition through childhood stages into productive adults. Research has shown that youth involved in 4-H are more motivated to help others, do better in school and make lasting friendships. Parent, guardian, or adult volunteers wanting to take leadership roles in the Adventure Club are welcome. Registration Night for the 4-H Rocket Adventure Club begins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at the Park Avenue Elementary School in Warwick. Membership fee is $15 for the first member and $5 for the second member with a $20 maximum per family.
