‘Mammogram Party' encourages screening scheduling

Approximately 10 women recently visited the St. Anthony Community Hospital Women’s Imaging Center in Warwick for a “Mammogram Party,” including Ann Perkins, left, who brought along her two daughters Angelica and Linnea for their first baseline screening. While each waited for her screening, the three women sipped wine and received gift bags. The National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society both recommend that women over 40 have regular mammograms. However some women and their physicians may want to make decisions about when to begin regular mammograms based on the woman’s individual risk of developing breast cancer. People wishing to attend an upcoming mammogram party or who would like to organize their own party should contact Cookie Jones, women’s imaging coordinator, at 988-9905.
