WARWICK - On Saturday, Sept. 1, this horse-drawn hearse created much interest as it stood in the parking lot outside a real estate office on Galloway Road. The hearse, owned by Tetz Coach and Hearse Co., was waiting to join a funeral procession to Warwick Cemetery that had been arranged by the Flynn Funeral Home in Monroe. The deceased, Madelaine “Maddy” Strack, 58, was a well-known member of the Tuxedo community, who had served in the school system and also as the town school tax collector for the past 22 years. She is survived by her husband Robert, son Rob, an Army Captain who rushed home from Iraq, and daughter Erika. One of her close friends, Barbara Tetz, and her husband, Joe Tetz, of Allentown, Pa., provided the Friesian horses and carriage hearse. According to her daughter, Madelaine Strack would visit the farm, where they raise Friesian horses, every summer. “She loved going on carriage rides across the Pennsylvania countryside,” she said.
