    — Tyler Zygmunt Murtie, president of the Zygmunt-Murtie Funeral and Cremation Service of Warwick, has announced the company’s expansion with the recent acquisition of the Joseph N. Garlick family of Funeral Homes in both Monticello and Ellenville.
The sale, which took place in October, broadens service availability to families in the Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties.
“I could not be more pleased with what we have accomplished since our opening serving Warwick in 2016," Murtie said in his press release detailing the acquisition. "While this recent acquisition was not originally planned, often-times things just fall into place, and this certainly was the case with Garlick’s.
"I will continue my full-time role in the Warwick community but will also maintain presence and commitment, along with my staff, under the Joseph N. Garlick name," Murtie added. "Now that the acquisition is finally complete we begin to focus on our next goal - a new Warwick facility, which we hope to see in the next several years.”
Murtie, a licensed funeral director in both New York and New Jersey, currently serves as the president of the Orange, Rockland and Sullivan Funeral Directors Association. He is a founding member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association- Bridge Commission, Licensed Director with the companies affiliate firm, the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. in Pine Bush as well as a medical death investigator for the Rockland County Government.
Joseph N. Garlick, which was founded in 1949, and Zygmunt-Murtie, which was founded in 2016, continue to offer traditional funeral services, simple cremations and pre-arrangements services at an affordable price.
