WV Wildcats Youth Lacrosse League hosts toy drive for CASA

WARWICK — The Warwick Valley Wildcats Youth Lacrosse League is hosting a toy drive to support CASA of Orange County during the league's End-of-Season Family BBQ Celebration.
The event will be held Sunday, June 8, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Pine Island Park.
The toy drive is open to the public for anyone wishing to donate items.
A CASA representative will be onsite to collect new (unwrapped) or gently used toys for boys and girls from grades K-8.
Applications will be available for anyone who is interested in becoming a CASA volunteer.
"We are excited to celebrate a very successful first season for the WV Wildcats and to thank all of the families and players for their dedication and hard work," said WV Wildcats Planning Board President Todd Orlando in the league's press release announcing the toy drive," but as importantly we have a tremendous opportunity to pay it forward to the children in our own community who are in need. The partnership with CASA is in direct support of our mission to not only help the WV Wildcats children become better athletes, but to become better citizens, too."
About CASA
Located in Goshen, the mission of Court Appointed Special Assistants (CASA) of Orange County is to ensure that abused and neglected children achieve safety and permanency as soon as possible through programs that recruit, train and supervise a staff of volunteers who work with the Family Court system to provide unbiased, independent information and guidance.
"For the children we support who are struggling through a traumatic time, receiving a new toy never fails to bring excitement and to lift a child's spirits," CASA Program Coordinator Chelsea Paterson said. "CASA is so grateful to the WV Wildcats Youth Lacrosse League for helping to bring the gift or more than just a toy, but a smile to the faces of these deserving children in Orange County."
