WARWICK — On Monday, October 30, the second annual Toys for Military Tots toy drive was launched by Orange County Community Radio WTBQ (1110 AM/93.5 FM).
Last year station owner Frank Truatt and station manager Taylor Sterling conceived the idea after speaking with Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus about the needs of the children of our military both active and those of disabled veterans.
And the station has again teamed up with Neuhaus, County Clerk Annie Rabbit, District Attorney David Hoovler, the Orange County Veterans Service Agency (VSA) and several other groups, including the Nam Knights, Beth Mindes of the Child Care Council of Orange County, Orange County Partnership Director of Business Retention and Expansion Amanda Dana, Sally Woglam, a third-grade teacher at Park Avenue Elementary School in Warwick and Phil Royle, LEGOLAND New York's head of community and project relations, on this year's drive.
"Please help support this toy drive and get your children involved by teaching them how important it is to give back," said Sterling. "It's never too early to start and what a great legacy to leave for the next generation. Let's all pay it forward. That is the least we can do for those who make the ultimate sacrifice. And the smiles on the faces of the children is what makes it all worthwhile."
All toys must be delivered by Dec. 11.
