Winslow hosts Halloween horse show

WARWICK — Winslow Therapeutic Center hosted a Halloween horse show on Sunday, Oct. 28, with a costume parade and trick or treating in the center’s riding arena.
Winslow’s Incredible Teen Helpers (WITH) organized the event. The youth group was founded to give teen volunteers a place to meet, discuss ideas and then organize and implement them. The focus of WITH is on fund raising, volunteering, public relations and riding opportunities.
Stacy Lenz recently took over the group advisor role and helped the group organize this year’s Halloween horse show. It was an opportunity for all of Winslow’s riders to show off what they learn during their lessons throughout the year.
The teen volunteers also had a chance to dress up with their favorite horses, employing a wide variety of costumes for two- and four-legged participants posing as Lady GaGa, a giraffe, a punk rocker, Santa Claus and a knight in shining armor.
Immediately before the horse show, local resident and amateur magician Joe Dans entertained the audience with some of his favorite tricks. He also served as DJ and provided musical entertainment for the event.
Winslow, founded in 1974, is a not for profit Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding Center devoted to the special needs population of Orange and surrounding counties. The Center has been offering unique and often life-changing horseback riding experiences to children and adults in this community since 1974.
