Warwick Wine Garden and Piano Bar hosts third annual Kentucky Derby fund raiser

WARWICK — In a rare occurrence, it poured rain during the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 5.
But the weather in Warwick was near perfect as the Warwick Wine Garden and Piano Bar, 22 McEwen St., hosted its third annual Kentucky Derby celebration and fundraiser, "Talk Derby to Me."
The proceeds from this year's event, $1,000, were donated to Winslow Therapeutic Center, a non-profit organization accredited by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, devoted to the special needs population of the Hudson Valley and surrounding area in northern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
More than 100 guests enjoyed many of the traditions of the Kentucky Derby including, Champagne and Mint Juleps, Southern style fare, a Derby Cake from Jean-Claude's Patisserie & Dessert Café, a ladies hat pageant, bluegrass music and a multi-screen viewing of an exciting two minutes in sports.
"This was another wonderful event," said Winslow's Executive Director Sue Ferro, "and I would like to offer special thanks to the Warwick Wine Garden and Piano Bar owners Chris and Marilyn Littell, their Director of Events Lourice Angie and their staff."
The winner of this year's Ladies Hat Pageant was Kayla Happle of Highland Lakes.
"We would like to sincerely thank everyone who joined us for the third annual 'Talk Derby To Me," said Angie, "and we're looking forward to seeing you all again next year."
