Warwick will be dressed in pink Friday

WARWICK — The first Pink Friday, a celebration to support the battle against breast cancer, will take place this Friday evening, Oct. 19.
The festive as well as educational event will include local hair salons providing makeovers and eyebrow threading, massages and henna tattoos along with a lineup of dance performances and fitness demonstrations on Railroad Green. And besides the many colorful shops and eateries participating and offering special discounts, gifts and other promotions, there will be several dozen street vendors along Main Street and Railroad Avenue.
Entertainment will include DJ RP Beats, Oakie Dokey, the clown, Zumba, nutritional counseling, free massages, pole dancing, swing dancers, Tarot Card reading and many more.
Participating shops and restaurants will donate a percentage of the day’s proceeds to Miles of Hope, a nonprofit charity that funds support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer in the eight counties of the Hudson Valley.
Additional stories about Pink Friday appear on pages 29, 30 and 31.
