The volunteers of Warwick Community Ambulance responded to 157 calls for assistance during August, including 41 cases of illness, 19 motor vehicle accidents and five cases of overdoses.

There also were two standby calls.

Here’s how the numbers break down:

General illness: 41

Falls: 27

Motor vehicle crashes: 19

Cardiac: 17

Unresponsive: 14

Difficulty breathing: 8

Seizures: 6

Overdose: 5

Air-Med transports: 4

Diabetic: 3

Assaults: 3

Pain/injury: 3

Medic Alert activation: 2

Stroke: 2

Fire standbys for the Warwick Fire Department: 2

Other: 3

Since Jan. 1, the volunteers have answered 1,028 calls for assistance.
