WARWICK — Jeanine Garritano Wadeson, Village Justice for the Village of Warwick for the past eight years, announced this week that she is seeking a third four-year term in this year’s Village Election on March 21.
Wadeson is a graduate of Warwick Valley High School, a practicing attorney in Orange County for 20 years and a 38-year Village of Warwick resident.
“I recognize that, by and large, people coming to Village Court generally do not want to be there," Wadeson said in her press release announcing her re-election plans. Having been charged with a crime, having been issued a traffic or parking ticket or being a party to a civil matter is not a pleasant experience. I make it a practice to treat people with dignity and respect, impose appropriate sentences and, especially in the case of first-time or young offenders, use the encounter as an opportunity to offer my life experience as lawyer, judge and parent to try ‘coach’ that person down a different path.
"I am excited," the judge added, "about the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of the Village of Warwick.”
Wadeson is a member of the Warwick Valley Rotary Club, a member of the Board of Trustees of Warwick Meals on Wheels, a founding mentor for the Warwick Valley High School Leadership Conference, a past president of the Park Avenue Elementary School PTA and a past Girl Scout Leader.
She lives in Warwick with her husband, Craig, and two daughters.
