Warwick Valley named one of 2012 Best High Schools

WARWICK Warwick Valley High School has made U.S. News & World Reports list of 2012 Best High Schools.
The magazine awarded more than 4,850 gold, silver, and bronze medals to the top-performing schools. WVHS earned a silver award and was ranked 1,143rd nationally and 143rd within New York State.
This year, U.S. News & World Report reviewed nearly 22,000 public high schools, including 370 in New York State.
To determine national rankings, public high schools were analyzed at the state level in terms of student performance on state assessments and then ranked nationally in terms of college readiness.
The opportunity for students to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams was cited in the review of Warwick Valley High School. The Warwick district was one of fewer than 400 public school districts in the nation honored last fall by the College Board with a place on the second annual Advanced Placement Honor Roll.
Being recognized as a 2012 Best High School is that the district continues to make strides toward not only increasing academic rigor, but also in preparing students for college and beyond, said Superintendent Dr. Raymond Bryant.
