Warwick Valley High School students receive national art awards






WARWICK — Warwick Valley High School students Leevi Toija, Maxwell Vonderhorst and Marielle Berrian have received medals in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards of 2016.
Junior Leevi Toija earned a Gold Medal and the American Vision Award for his photograph, “Exhaustiveness."
Maxwell Vonderhorst, a sophomore, received a Silver Medal for his political cartoon “Government Spending.”
Senior Marielle Berrian was also awarded a Silver Medal for her photograph, “Doors to Infinity."
Leevi, Maxwell and Marielle have been identified by panels of creative professionals as some of the most talented young artists in the nation.
This year, nearly 320,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Only the top one percent were recognized at the national level.
The Warwick Valley Central School District offers the students congratulations on their success and participation in the 2016 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
