— Next Thursday evening, Feb. 22, the historic Baird's Tavern at 103 Main Street in the Village of Warwick will be the site of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce winter social from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The chamber invites members and guests to meet, greet and socialize with business professionals from around the region in an old-time tavern setting where George and Martha Washington were once guests.
Last year the owner of the 1766 building, the Warwick Historical Society, signed a lease with Fetch Bar and Grill owners John Barounis and Adam Powers, to operate three rooms in the ground floor as a Colonial-style tavern.
"We took over the first floor of a museum," said Powers, "and turned it into an establishment that attempts to bring to life the essence of that long-ago period."
Today patrons can enjoy a choice of 10 beers on tap, wines and spirits Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to closing. And a special membership program with proceeds benefiting the historical society includes an engraved pewter mug, drink discounts and admission to special events.
Next Thursday the Chamber's Winter Social guests can keep warm by the fireplace and unwind with cocktails around the newly designed replica of a "Cage Bar." A variety of appetizers will be served (cash bar available). And each guest will be eligible to win a variety of raffles and prizes.
To join chamber members for this unique social occasion, general admission is $20. For members of the chamber and their guests, the cost is $10.
