— It's never too early to start planning for an important celebration or to make reservations and take advantage of sponsorship opportunities.
The Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce will mark its 78th anniversary on Saturday, November 18 with a membership celebration themed, "Let's Ask Warwick - The Chamber Challenge."
The event, which will be held at the Warwick Valley Country Club, begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and appetizers followed by a buffet. And it promises to be a fun and festive evening as the Warwick Valley Country Club is transformed into a TV game show set.
Inspired by 'Jeopardy'"Let's Ask Warwick" is designed to mimic the format of the popular TV game show "Jeopardy."
Some of the questions, but not all, will be multiple choice. In the "Books and Authors" category, for example, one question might be "In To Kill a Mockingbird Scout’s friendship with Dill is based on Harper Lee’s friendship with what famous author?
Truman Capote; Ernest Hemingway; Dalton Trumbo or William Faulkner? (The answer can be found at the end of this article.)
Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton will take the stage to help emcee the trivia bowl event when 27 lucky guests will have a chance to participate as contestants in a selection by lottery.
First, second and third place winning teams will be presented with great prizes.
To help celebrate the chamber's past and present year, Executive Director Michael Johndrow will also offer opening remarks and Board President Mechelle Casciotta will present awards to deserving members.
"I am excited about this year's theme," said Event Chair Janine Dethmers. "It's going to be very entertaining. And we are hiring a production company to build a state-of-the-art set that will include everything from game show podiums with buzzers, special effects lighting, music and sounds, to larger-than-life images on two giant sized video screens. Whether a game player or not, a great party is in store."
The event is made possible in part by support from its sponsors. Varying game sponsor levels for first round, second round, third round and the final round are available, as well as Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Essential informationTickets to the celebration are $85 per person. Spouses, guests and friends of the community are encouraged to attend.
