WARWICK — Members of the Board of Directors of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce assembled for their first meeting of the New Year on Feb. 7 in the Greenbriar Room conference hall at Mount Alverno Center on the Warwick Campus of Bon Secours Charity Health System.

The first monthly meeting, originally scheduled for Jan. 10, had been postponed due to weather.

Combining two monthly agendas, Michael Johndrow, executive director of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the new members of the Board of Directors and the Executive Board.

High on the agenda was his suggestion to form a retention committee to call and invite members to take advantage of the numerous benefits of chamber membership including mixers and networking events that many of the 577 members have not attended.

Committee and task force reports on tourism, the Merchant's Guild, Applefest and the annual job shadowing program were among the reports presented during the meeting.

Johndrow also discussed plans and progress for the upcoming seventh annual Warwick Valley EXPO, scheduled for March 29, the acquisition by the Town of Warwick of the former Mid-Orange Correctional facility and the soon to be distributed 2014-15 Visitor Guides.

Sherry Bukovcan, recently elected president of the chamber, congratulated the Board of Directors for completing what were two agendas in the usual time allotted for one monthly meeting.

"And I would also like to express our appreciation to the administrators of the Warwick Campus of the Bon Secours Charity Health System," said Johndrow, "for offering the Greenbriar Room at Mount Alverno Center for our meetings."
