Warwick. Town news in brief

| 15 Jan 2023 | 03:06

The following information comes from the office of Warwick Town Supervisor Michael P. Sweeton:

    Repair Café

If something is broken, why not bring it to the Repair Café on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Senior Center behind the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway. The Repair Café will begin at 10 a.m., and the last repair will be accepted at 1:30 p.m. At the Repair Café you’ll find tools and supplies to help make repairs to wooden furniture, small appliances, electronics, housewares, clothes and textiles, lamps and lighting, crockery, toys and more. You’ll also find “repair coaches,” such as electricians, seamstresses, mechanics, knife and tool sharpeners, and all-purpose fix-it pros with superior technical skills.

Please do not bring gas or propane powered items. Limit two items per person.

Please bring a non-perishable Food Pantry donation – boxed or canned goods only.

Although Orange County’s Covid numbers are declining, masks are still to be worn inside the building by all volunteers and guests.

    Friendly Visitor Program

The Town of Warwick Friendly Visitor Program is an effort of volunteers helping neighbors and is free to any Town of Warwick resident, including those in our Villages. It is designed to help those in need remain in their homes longer and be engaged in our community. The service provides essential rides, shopping assistance, home visits, chores and wellness phone calls.

For more information call (845)-986-1120, ext. 400.

    Getting rid of stuff

Town residents can drop off their discarded Christmas trees on Public Works Drive, off of Kings Highway. Please place them on the pile on the right near the gate entrance to the Town Highway Department through Jan. 31.

Marangi started recycling service for the Town on Jan. 1. Residents are asked to leave their old County Waste recycling bins curbside until picked up. This will take approximately two weeks to complete.
